Feb Student of the Month

On every first day of the new month, our Laurel School district appoints one Spartan senior, who we believe should be our new Senior student of the month! For the month of February our Spartan, faculty and staff appointed Grant Mackay to be our student of the month. Grant Mackay is one of our many amazing Spartan athletes. This month Grant qualified for the regional wrestling tournament, as well as over the past couple of years became a 3 time WPIAL qualifier. Although Grant recently just became part of our Laurel community, as of a couple years ago, he has still made many memories as a Spartan. Grant's favorite memory would have to be his time wrestling as a Spartan, with all of his teammates, and the traveling that it contained. Since Grant is a senior, he will soon be leaving us, but that won’t stop his wrestling career. Grant plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh and continue with not only his academic endeavors, but also his athletics. For as long as Grant can remember, his mom has and will always have his back. She continues to be his number one supporter as the days go on. When walking past the student of the month showcase, in the Laurel School District, we saw that Grant had many pictures of, wrestling, friends, and family, as well as numerous medals from his wrestling career, and wrestling equipment. Grant has spent his time at Laurel as a Spartan, as memorable as he can. While Grant looks up to many mentors in his life, many younger students look up to him. Some advice that he has from underclassmen is to “be mindful of the people you spend your time with. They can have positive and negative impacts on you, and you will begin their tendencies. We wish Grant nothing but the best in his future endeavors. Watch out for our next senior student of the month!
