Upcoming Baseball Season

By Breah Dewberry

As baseball season quickly approaches, our players are working hard to get game-ready. Let’s take a look at what last year had to offer and the players we’ll miss after this year.

Last year’s team ended the year with a 7-13 record. Even though it was not Laurel’s best putout for baseball, the upcoming years should be more promising since each game played is more experience added to each players’ career. However, our Spartans did lose four key players after last year including John Andre, George Michaels, Ryan Telez, and Connor Pontzloff. Thus, opening the roles of right field, third base, centerfield, and catcher. Not only did these players excel defensively, but also offensively. Ryan Telez suffered an injury at the beginning of the 2023 season but that didn’t stop him from contributing. Telez’s batting average for the 2023 season was .444 with 36 at bats; most of which he had a cast on his wrist. Needless to say, this year's seniors (Hunter Kobialka and Noah Spencer), have big shoes to fill. Come support the Laurel Varsity Baseball team as they play West Middlesex High School on March 19th at 4:00 pm as their home opener. Good luck boys!
