by Butch Burgess

Laurel senior Seth Gilmore competed in the first round of the 2026 WPIAL Class 2A Boys Golf Championship at South Hills Country Club.

Gilmore opened the championship with a 43 on the front nine before shooting a 39 on the back nine. He finished the round with an 82, placing him in a tie for 26th.

Gilmore earned his spot in the WPIAL championship after qualifying through the Section 5-2A tournament. Competing against some of the top Class 2A golfers in the WPIAL, Gilmore put together a solid opening round and gave himself an opportunity to move up the leaderboard.

As the championship continues, Gilmore will look to build on his first-round performance while representing Laurel on the WPIAL stage.
