Bocce Team

by Angel Milbert

Laurel’s new Unified Bocce team has had a great start to their season. The bocce team is 2-2 in their season so far. Their win percentage is 50% and their point average is 6.50. Laurel is currently seeded 2nd in the Lawrence division. The bocce team is composed of both regular ed ucation and life skills students.

Natalie Rodgers, captain of the bocce team stated “I love being the captain of the bocce team because the look on the kids faces when they get a good role is something that’s priceless. We all have a special bond. It’s like a family. I love cheering them on. Getting to know all of their personalities and hobbies is by far my favorite thing about being on the team. I’ve learned we all have so much in common. I love walking past them in the hallways and they always say to me “Are you ready for bocce Nat?” The smiles on their faces when they say that to me absolutely melts me. I’m honored and so thankful to be the captain of them. We are a first year team and so far we are 2-2 and we stand at the top of the bracket. Id say our goal this year is to definitely make it to states. As D- Man and I would say “we are going to states baby!” I have no doubt in my mind that we will achieve our goal. I’m so proud of all their hard work and dedication . From dancing on the side lines to cheering each other on  I’m so proud of all of them off and on the bocce court.”

The bocce team will play Shenango on January 11th. The game will be at Shenango High School at 3:15pm. Come out and show your support for the Laurel Bocce team!
